The Denver Broncos made a roster move by cutting a player from their 53 man roster. Most likely they are preparing for another move by adding to their 53 man roster.

On Tuesday, the Denver Broncos made a roster move by cutting defensive linemen Kyle Peko. Peko made the 53 man roster as an undrafted free agent and added depth on the defensive line. Injuries elsewhere could be the cause of the move with the Broncos looking to add help elsewhere.

As for Peko, he had a crazy 24 hours to make the roster. First he was told he was going to be cut, and the move was made publicly. However, it wasn’t filed to the NFL and the next day Peko was informed they made some changes and he’d make the roster.

For the two games played this season, Peko was a game day inactive so he hasn’t seen the field. One thing is for sure, the Broncos like Kyle Peko and they probably will make a move on the practice squad to bring him back.

As for the open spot on the 53 man roster, there are a few ways the Broncos can go. They have injuries on their offensive line, tight ends, linebackers, and in the secondary. Some of them are more minor injuries than others.

Bringing in someone at safety is the longest shot of the three. Rookie Justin Simmons is dealing with an injury, but he played through it against the Colts. Even if he can’t go full-time, rookie Will Parks is in line to see some play time, and they have versatility with their corners. So doubtful they are looking to bring in a safety, especially after just releasing Shiloh Keo.

As for the linebackers, only DeMarcus Ware suffered an injury and will miss a few weeks. The Broncos have two capable backups in Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett to replace Ware. Plus Dekoda Watson can step in and see a few snaps like he did against the Colts. This makes a linebacker a long shot.

As for tight ends, they have one tight end who is healthy. Jeff Heuerman has still not played a snap after being a third round selection in 2015. He just can’t get on the field. Then Virgil Green suffered a calf injury against the Colts. He re-entered the game, but depth at tight end is non-existent and only John Phillips is healthy.

The most likely position is on the offensive line. An injury to Donald Stephenson suddenly depleted the depth on the offensive line. Ty Sambrailo is now dealing with a bum ankle, which leaves the Broncos with no healthy backup tackle. With Stephenson out for a week or two, and Sambrailo can’t get healthy.

Only healthy backup the Broncos have is rookie guard Connor McGovern. Even their backup center, James Ferentz is working on coming back from an injury. This makes Denver signing an offensive linemen likely. Someone who can step in and provide immediate depth for an offensive line that has none.

Due to the injuries, Michael Shofield will be manning the right tackle spot with Darrion Weems at right guard. If an injury were to occur to Schofield, then the only move the Broncos can make is Weems to right tackle and insert McGovern. This makes an addition for an offensive linemen most likely.

There has been no signing yet to fill the open spot made by cutting Peko, but one should happen soon. Also expect a move to open a spot on the practice squad for Peko.

UPDATE: The Denver Broncos have agreed to a contract with strong safety Shiloh Keo. Keo takes the 53-man roster spot that was opened up by Kyle Peko.
