Broncos Stand Alone at the Top in AFC With a 4-0 Record
It took the Denver Broncos longer than it should’ve to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers thanks to a weather delay of over an hour. However, they came out with the victory and are the only 4-0 team in the AFC.
With 7:22 left in the fourth quarter and the Denver Broncos up 27-7, a rain cloud and thunder saw the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers get delayed. They were delayed for an hour before they were able to return to the field to finish the game.
As for the game itself, Trevor Siemian got hurt a little before halftime. He had trainers looking at his left, non-throwing, shoulder before he was carted off the field. Before he got hurt, Siemian was playing well as he went 5-7 for 68 yards and a touchdown. He made some quick, well-placed strikes to get his receivers the ball.
When he went down, the Broncos first round pick Paxton lynch entered the game. Lynch has played tremendously, and better than Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, but more on that later. Lynch went 14-24 for 170 yards and one touchdown. He has showcased his arm strength time and time again with his passes.

Unfortunately, C.J. Anderson and the Broncos were unable to run the ball. Anderson only picked up 49 yards rushing. Devontae Booker and Kapri Bibbs added 30 and 14 yards. A big reason for the lack of running game has been their run blocking. That will have to change to sustain their offense.
As for Winston, he went for 17-35 for 179 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. Both interceptions went to Aqib Talib, who was originally drafted by the Buccaneers. Both also came in the first half. It was a rough game for the former first overall pick.
Defense
Those aren’t the only turnovers Denver has, as they also recovered a fumble. There is some question about what running back Charles Sims was doing on the play. Sims went to toss the ball back to Winston, but Broncos defensive end Billy Winn got the ball instead.

In addition to their turnovers, the Denver Broncos got all kinds of pressure on Winston and sacked him six times on the day. Derek Wolfe led the way with 2.5 sacks, his first multi-sack game of his career. The former run defender only has 11.5 sacks over the last 14 games.
Their defense has been fantastic all season, especially defending the passing game. They held Winston to 17-35 for 179 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. Both interceptions went to Aqib Talib, who was originally drafted by the Buccaneers. Both also came in the first half. It was a rough game for the former first overall pick.
Next: Broncos Players to Watch
Next up for Denver comes the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are averaging 38 points per game, but are allowing 31 points per game. Their offense will come up against the “No-Fly Zone” and the Denver Broncos defense in the ultimate clash.
