Expert: Rob Rang (CBS)

Prediction: Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin

Rob Rang of CBS is forecasting John Elway will select offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk out of Wisconsin with pick number 20.

Ramczyk has had an intriguing career to this point, having played D-III football at UW-Stevens Point after electing not to take up an offer from Pitt in 2013. Eventually, Ramczyk found his way to the Badgers in 2014 thanks to his incredible play and previous relationship with Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst.

He sat out the 2015 campaign as a red shirt before becoming a dominant force for the Badgers up front in 2016.

He was bestowed First Team All-American and First Team Big-Ten honors as Wisconsin went 11-3 and won the Cotton Bowl against Western Michigan.

Ramczyk features a ready-made body for professional football. He stands at a massive 6’6″ and currently weighs in at 314lbs. He thrives in the run game, possessing the ability to create major gaps through moving both his defender and himself quickly. Another major asset of Ramczyk’s game is his second blocking abilities and his intelligence to pick up defenders behind the initial line.

Ramczyk did however, fight through an ongoing hip injury in the latter stages of 2016 and had surgery on his right hip early this year. While Ramczyk is remaining positive about his recovery, for many teams this type of injury can be a potential red flag.

Just last year the Broncos took a chance on defensive end Adam Gotsis in the second round, despite the fact that was coming off of an ACL tear during his senior season. So even though Ramczyk may have some questions surrounding his health, John Elway has shown a willingness to take a chance on potential, injury risk players.
