Expert: Chad Reuter (Official NFL website)

Prediction: Forrest Lamp, OG, Western Kentucky

Chad Reuter of the leagues official website has the Broncos using their first round draft pick on Western Kentucky offensive guard Forrest Lamp.

Lamp is a 6’4″, 305 pound mountain who played predominantly as the Hilltoppers’ left tackle during his four years in the program. However, due to his lack of arm length, many experts see him transitioning to the inside line when he reaches the pros.

Lamp is an above average athlete who possesses quick feet and smart hands. He is tough, ultra-competitive and has shown an ability to defend against an array of spin moves and stunts.

However, scouts believe Lamp will be unable to add much more weight to his frame and this could lead to him having issues dealing with the strength of bigger interior defensive tackles.

Reuter explains his pick, saying that it won’t matter who starts at quarterback next season for the Broncos if they can’t protect him.

Having played on the left side of the line in college, it would be safe to assume Lamp would feel most comfortable as the teams left  offensive guard, a position currently held by Max Garcia. However, in a recent press conference new offensive coordinator Mike McCoy had high praise for Garcia, so if the Broncos were to draft Lamp, a shift to the right side may be in order for the young man out of Western Kentucky.
