The Buffs Women’s team finds themselves slipping to number eight in our rankings after suffering consecutive loses this week, first to nationally ranked Washington followed by Washington State on the road. While losing to the Huskies is nothing to be ashamed of, CU’s defeat at the hands of a 10-18 Washington State team forces them into the last spot in our rankings. The Buffs now go into the Pac-12 tournament as the 10th seed, where, they will get the chance to extract some immediate revenge against Washington State as they face the Cougars in round one.

The Avalanche managed five goals in their most recent game against the Sabres to grab a much-needed two goal win at the Pepsi Center on Saturday. Gabriel Landeskog starred with 2 goals and an assist while goalie Jeremy Smith earned his first career victory as a starter. However, the performance comes after the Avs dropped two games earlier in the week, first going down to the Kings 2-1 in Denver followed by a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Predators in Nashville. The Avs have a chance to string multiple wins together for the first time since early February when they travel to Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Senior guard Derrick White was outstanding, netting 31 points, grabbing six rebounds a handing out five assists — all of which led the Buffs in those categories. CU are currently 8th in the Pac-12 and have two more games to go before the tournament begins on March 8.

Denver Nuggets
Last Week: 5
This Week: 5
The Nuggets stumbled out of the All-Star break by dropping a very winnable road game against the now DeMarcus Cousins-less Sacramento Kings. The team made up for that loss by obliterating the Nets at the Pepsi Center the following night on the strength of new Nugget Mason Plumlee’s near triple-double of 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Denver rounded out the week by dropping a hard-fought game to the Grizzlies at home. The Nuggets are still in possession of the 8th seed in the West, but need to start winning close games to ensure the playoff spot stays with them.
