2017 NFL Draft

Could the Broncos address this need in the draft?  Obtaining the 20th pick in this years draft, the Broncos may once again be in the position to draft the best player available.  An obvious selection for the Broncos would be an offensive lineman.  Could we see the likes of Garett Bolles, Ryan Ramczyk or Cam Robinson end up in Denver?  John Elway recently addressed that he wants to build through free agency if he can, so when the draft arrives he is not over valuing or reaching for players.

Solution: McCaffrey

If no linemen are drafted in the first round by the Broncos, be on the look out for Valor Christian and Stanford star Christian McCaffrey.  Not only would it be a feel good story for McCaffrey to end up in Denver, where his father won two Super Bowls in the late 90’s, but he would help the Broncos immensely.

In a video taken by Denver Post beat reporter Cameron Wolfe, McCaffrey is answering media questions at the combine and was asked, “How would you feel following your dad’s path if the Broncos selected you?”

McCaffrey responded:

"“It’d be awesome, it’d be great.  I’d love to play there.”"

McCaffrey later went on to say you cannot be a fan anymore, and he would be appreciative to play anywhere.

Christian McCaffrey would fill an important void for the Broncos, a kick returner.  That is only one of his many attributes, as he feels he can be a three down back in the NFL.

It will be interesting to see how the off-season pans out for the Broncos, as they have their eyes set on returning the Lombardi to Denver.  There are many opportunities to get better, whether through free agency or the draft.

Regardless, keep an eye out on the Broncos, as they will most likely look to upgrade the running back position.
