Broncos: Top Five Peyton Manning Moments In Denver
Today marks the five-year anniversary of Peyton Manning signing with the Denver Broncos. As such, we take a look at Manning’s top five moments in Denver.
Every Broncos fan remembers the moment when The Sheriff came to town.
For me, I was sitting halfway across the world, in a dimly lit supermarket car park in Australia where I was waiting for a friend to finish work. Knowing a decision was imminent, I sat there frantically refreshing my twitter timeline every couple of minutes. My friends tried to tell me the Broncos would be better off without The Sheriff, that he was washed up after having serious neck surgery. I didn’t believe that for a single second, though.
Then it happened. The announcement I had long coveted; Peyton Manning had chosen Denver.
It was almost surreal. THE Peyton Manning wad going to be our quarterback. After having to deal with a combination of Tim Tebow and Kyle Orton at quarterback the previous few years, Manning was a gift sent from the football gods.
Fast forward five years, Peyton Manning is now retired having spent 18 seasons in the NFL — 14 with Indianapolis and four with Denver.
He will go down as one of the greatest to ever play the game and his signing by Denver will also be considered among the best free agent signings in league history.
During his four years in Denver, Manning threw for over 17,000 yards, 140 touchdowns and was the teams starting quarterback in two Super Bowls — winning one in his final game.
