Don’t Call it a Comeback
With the Nuggets in the thick of an insane Western Conference playoff race, they’ll need a lot of direction.
A quick refresher on the state of the Nuggets: They’ve got a pretty great roster, there are some coaching concerns. That’s how it’s generally been discussed, locally. While I downplay the negative reaction to coaching, I agree with the local consensus.
It will be interesting to see how the result of the playoff race impacts the off-season decisions of the team. Wilson Chandler will be key, remember that. The Nuggets need a defense-first wing, it’s unclear whether Chandler is going to fill that role. With a player option for next season, it’ll also be interesting to see what “Ill Will” does to the cap situation for next year.
I think if the Nuggets can get to the sixth seed, they will have a chance at advancing to the second round. That would be a huge win for a season that’s been difficult to grade.
The end result matters more than ever and if the last three games are any indication, the Nuggets seem to have figured a couple of things out.
As it stands, they are a full game behind Minnesota and New Orléans, a game-and-a-half behind Oklahoma City and San Antonio, two back of Utah. They could conceivably finish anywhere from fourth to 10th.
We will be covering the Nuggets and their playoff fortunes extensively in the near future.
