Broncos Shift Focus to Defense with Bradley Chubb Pick
The Denver Broncos have selected Bradley Chubb with the fifth pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
The surprise in this pick was that Chubb slipped to fifth, not that the Denver Broncos picked him there. Chubb, 6’4″ and 270 lbs. out of North Carolina State may be the most NFL ready player in this year’s NFL Draft.
Chubb mentioned Von Miller as a role model and player he models his game after. Miller, whose numbers took a small hit last season without DeMarcus Ware opposite him on Denver’s line.
Look for Chubb to have an immediate role on the already stellar Broncos defense. With the potential loss of interior lineman Adam Gotsis there will be a need for depth on the line.
There is no lack of confidence in the Marietta, Georgia native. With Miller and Khalil Mack as players he models his game after, he should wreak havoc from the end for Denver for years.
As mentioned on the Draft broadcast, Denver had a deal in place to swap picks with the Buffalo Bills but when Bradley Chubb was still on the board the Broncos chose to use the pick.
This was a coup for the Broncos, made possible by Cleveland’s pick of Denzel Ward at number four. Here’s hoping that Denver can capture the same fire and production with Bradley Chubb that they did with Von Miller.

Going defense with the first pick, although a surprise, was the right move. Very excited to see what Miller and Chubb can accomplish together this coming season!
