Game two of the series is scheduled for the Colorado Rockies to meet up with the New York Mets at 7:10 PM EDT at Citi Field in Flushing New York.

In game one of the series Rockies held on for a 8-7 win over the Mets in a much too close game considering the first inning had the Colorado Rockies scoring 5 runs without a home run.   The home runs did come.  And a win is a win but the pitching staff would have all been a little more comfortable with a more breathing room I’m sure.  Although, the save by Wade Davis was dramatic and the most fun I’ve had in a while!  But still.

Tonights match-up will feature the pitching stylings of one Chad Bettis (RHP #35 3-1 2.43 ERA 25 K) for the Colorado Rockies.  He only allowed four hits and two runs against the Marlins and has gone seven innings in his last three of four starts.  Not too shabby.  He was not successful because he didn’t have run support, hopefully that is not the case currently. It doesn’t appear to be a problem as the offense has been hot, hot, hot.

For the Mets we will see Steven Matz (LPH #32 1-2 4.98 ERA 26 K) make the start.  Stiffness has pushed back his previous start and he hasn’t gone past just into the fifth inning in length.  In four out of five starts so far he has given up three runs, so that may be a promising number given how hot the Rockies offense has been.

Mets have shown they came to play too.  The win last night was phoned in at the last moment after a five run first inning.  The Colorado Rockies are here to win,  the New York Mets are here to win.  So far, a fantastic watch and very fun baseball.  Do yourself a favor, watch a series.
