Kutsch played one season at Butte Community College, taking home All-California Community College Region I first-team honors.

The Colorado Buffaloes continue to add to their 2018 recruiting class.

Kary Kutsch, a 300-pound offensive lineman signed a financial aid agreement with the Colorado football program and is scheduled to enroll at CU this summer, head coach Mike MacIntyre announced Friday afternoon.

Kutsch played one year of college football at Butte College in Oroville, California. In his one season, the 6’4 offensive tackle took home first-team honors for his region, the only member of Butte College to do so.

Jason Clay of CUBuffs.com talked with head coach Mike MacIntyre about the signing of Kutsch:

"“We are excited about Kary, he is a big, athletic offensive lineman,” MacIntyre said. “He can play offensive tackle, he can play guard, he can play center, but we’re looking for him to come in and compete at our tackle spot.”“He threw the shot put and discus in track and at offensive tackle he is very physical, he is already over 300 pounds and is over 6-4,” MacIntyre said. “He will bring a powerful presence for us on the offensive line.”"

By the sounds of it, Kutsch will be given an opportunity to start this season for the Buffaloes.

The Buffs have holes to fill up front, so this signing could be key not only as a potential starter but for depth as well.

Jeromy Irwin was the team’s starting left tackle since 2015 but he has since graduated and leaves big shoes to fill. Irwin played in 46 games during his CU career, starting 36 of them and he was a second-team All Pac-12 selection in 2017.

With only one junior and the rest sophomores or freshman up front for the Buffs offensive line, experience is not prevalent. Kutsch having some collegiate experience could help him in fall camp when the position battles begin to take flight.

He will have competition however, as Coach Mac has inked three other offensive lineman in this recruiting class (

,

Joshua Jynes

and

Kanan Ray) .
