You can’t call yourself a Rockies fan if you don’t know this guy.

That’s right, number 28, age 27, but number one in your hearts, Nolan Arenado.

He has made quite a splash in the Mile High City and we wouldn’t have it any other way.  We have had a few memorable personalities in the years with the Rockies but Nolan will remain a personal favorite.

Where does he land on your list?

Let’s learn some basics first so we have a level playing field.  We know we love what we see on the field and he can hit the hide off the ball.  What else have you got for us?

Arenado is from Southern California, where he spends his off-season.  His extended family remains there.

He is of Cuban and Puerto Rican decent.

He has a brother that is in the Giants organization and a cousin also in the Rockies organization.  I guess they know what they are doing in the Arenado family when it comes to baseball.

Nolan grew up playing catcher but was drafted as an infielder.  The 2013 season started with Arenado playing Triple-A at Colorado Springs before being called up to the main roster on April 28th.  Despite the late start, he was among the top-five rookies in multiple catagories for offense and was awarded a Gold Glove.  He would be the first rookie to do so for the Rockies.  Arenado would be awarded the Gold Glove again in 2014 becoming one of five players to have done so for a second straight season.

The 2015 season would mark another first: First all-star game for Nolan.  He would also win his first Silver Slugger and his third consecutive Gold Glove.

2016 is more of the same, the guy is money.  Straight money, see the stats, get your socks knocked off come back and we can finish.

Everyday.  That’s when he brings it.  That’s why he’s loved.

Never change big guy.
