What a difference a day makes in the Colorado sun! A home-run barrage carried Colorado to an 8-2 victory and 2-1 series win.

The Rockies managed to erase the bad taste of Saturday’s performance in the bottom of the first with a leadoff shot by David Dahl.  That was followed by an Arenado single and then the above mentioned CarGo two-run blast.

The Rockies never looked back.  Arenado would join the fun in the sixth with his own two-run shot, his 10th of the season.  Ian Desmond went deep in the seventh to drive in CarGo and round out the Rockies scoring.

What’s significant is watching the Rockies statistics climb.  Nolan is up to .324 for batting average, Blackmon is at .277, Dahl at .261.  Carlos Gonzalez, on the strength of a 4-for-4 performance saw his average jump to .241

German Marquez spread one run and five hits over seven strong innings. A combination of Rockies relievers brought the game in, including some interesting moments from reliever Brooks Pounders who surrendered three hits and a run in the top of the ninth before Wade Davis came in to close things out.

All-in-all a satisfactory performance at home from Colorado given their struggles at Coors.

On tap is a three-game set with the San Francisco Giants, starting at 5:10MDT.  The Rockies will start Chad Bettis (4-1, 3.30 ERA) and the Giants will go with Andrew Suarez (1-4, 5.68 ERA)
