Nuggets Incredible Summer Continues With Trades, IT
Lots has happened this week for the Denver Nuggets. We’ll unpack Mr. Connelly’s Wild Ride for you.
It seems like the rapid-fire news this week regarding Nuggets moves has barely allowed us to catch out breath.
It’s pretty safe to say at this point that Tim Connelly and Arturus Karnisovas have had an offseason for Denver that exceeds what we could realistically have expected. Starting with the fortunate fall that landed Michael Porter, Jr. in the draft and the trade of Wilson Chandler to Philadelphia, one of the most important summers in Nuggets history started with high praise.
Had it stopped there, with the Jokic signing news that would have been enough. It would have been a successful offseason. It didn’t stop there, though and this last week for Denver has seen moves that have national media buzzing about the squad the Nuggets are building.
We thought we lost traction in 2013 with the firing of George Karl and the departure of Masai Ujiri. Both men had earned -of the year titles for the Nuggets 57-win season. The concurrent shift from Stan Kroenke to his son Josh left the Nuggets in sort of a no-man’s land. They weren’t terrible but it wouldn’t take much to make them so. Several solid draft years later, we are poised to ascend to the top of the Western Conference, due in no small part to the efforts of Josh Kroenke, Tim Connelly, Arturus Karnisovas and Michael Malone.
