Something familiar about a season/league ending with a loss to the Timberwolves.

Denver held out SL stars Malik Beasley, Monte Morris, Tyler Lydon, Vlatko Cancar, Thomas Welsh and DeVaughn Akoon Purcell.  Of those that played, Kenrich Williams, the 6’7″ TCU guard led the Nuggets with 17 points.

The Wolves squad was paced by second-round pick Keita Bates Diop with 14.

There wasn’t much notable for Denver in this game, after the Toronto loss, the Nuggets seemed to concede the final game.

The game also signalled an end to daily activity for the Nuggets and now begins our long wait for training camp.  While the tournament portion of Summer League didn’t produce the results Denver would have liked, it’s important to remember that Summer League is really just entertainment and Vegas glitz.  The only thing we needed to see is that Malik Beasley and Monte Morris were fit, motivated and ready.  Both showed that.

I know Torrey Craig made his mark in SL, as did Morris last year.  It is important to fringe players needing a venue to show their game.  I already want the Nuggets to make room for Cancar, Williams, Meeks, Akoon Purcell and most definitely Emmanuel Terry.  That’s not how any of this works, though so we’ll have to hope for the best for our summer guys.

More from Denver Nuggets

The consequences of Denver’s youth is that there’s no room for young, developing players.  It makes the summer league almost hard to watch, knowing that none of these guys can make the roster.  None of these guys can make the roster barring disastrous injury problems from the main squad and I don’t want to see any of these young men on the roster badly enough for that,

So, let’s bid adieu to Sin City and the fun it is to see guys playing energetic basketball in Nuggets uniforms.

Thank you to our Summer League roster and coaches for an entertaining week.

We’ve got so much to look forward to with the upcoming season
