Bismark Boateng Game Winner Propels Colorado Rapids Past San Jose
By Ryan Palmer
We had two players step up.
I said that Acosta can’t be the only one playing aggressive and scoring goals. I was a little disappointed that Acosta didn’t score one in this match, but this left the door open for two Colorado Rapids players to step up with two monster goals.

The first player to step up was Tommy Smith who scored off an in air header from a beautiful cross from Kelly Acosta after a corner. This goal gave the Rapids a 1-0 lead at approximately the 23 minute mark. Tommy Smith was quiet the rest of the match, but all it takes is being in position for when the time comes and that is what Smith did.
The second player to step up in a huge way was Bismark Boateng who kicked in the game winning slow roller through two defenders and past the goalkeeper into the right corner of the goal. It was an amazing game winning goal in stoppage time. Boateng’s game winner was the difference between a draw and the win and he would get the game ball if I were handing it out.
These weren’t the only players that were working hard out on the pitch tonight. It was truly a team effort. Everyone played hard and aggressive and this will need to continue. Down road it will be different players that get the nod if the Rapids continue this strong play.
This has been two big back-to-back wins. While the Colorado Rapids weren’t playing a top ranked team in the San Jose Earthquakes this game was of the utmost importance to keep the momentum up going to Los Angeles to try to make it two wins in a row against a good L.A. Galaxy team. Great job Rapids.
