Welcome home, AQ21!

Wade Phillips returns to Denver with his Rams defense sporting new stars Aqib Talib and Ndamakong Suh.  Wade has to be disappointed in his defense’s middle-of-the-pack performance from a season ago.  Expect the Rams defense to be edging toward top-5 status this season.

Side note:  I’d like to see Talib and Broncos punter Marquette King have a showoff-off.  As long as King isn’t sporting a gold chain, my money’s on him to outduel Talib.

With Marcus Peters at the other cornerback slot, Jeff Heuermann and Phillip Lindsay could be Case Keenum’s best options in the passing game.  Denver will find that the Rams defense matches up well with the Broncos offense.

On the other side, Denver will have their hands full with Rams standout back Todd Gurley.  If preseason play has given us any concern with the first team defense, it’s in stopping the run.  Jared Goff, coming off a breakout 2017 campaign will have his hands full with Denver’s outstanding corners and rush.  Tough one to call, but Denver finds a way at home.
