4. The Buffs defense is legit

Last year the CU defense took a major step back. Last week looked like a completely different unit.

The defensive line dominated the line of scrimmage (something they struggled with in 2017). The CSU offensive line couldn’t get a push to ignite their running game, averaging 2.6 yards on 39 carries. Last year that would not have happened–the Buffs ranked 109th in rush defense in all of FBS last season.

Colorado also shut down the Rams through the air. KJ Carta-Samuels threw for over 500 yards against Hawaii a week earlier, but against CU he struggled, was benched and ended with 176 passing yards.

If the Buffs can have this type of success against Nebraska and their true freshman QB–a victory at the end of the game is probable.
