Derek Carr is a star.  Gruden is going to waste it.

It just felt like 1999, looking at the Raiders sideline and seeing Gruden make that stupid face.  It feels like a regression for the storied franchise and it can’t bode well.

Raider Nation can’t be happy with Gruden at 0-2.  They can’t be happy with the Khalil Mack divorce.  They shouldn’t be happy with the release of Marquette King.  At the very least they should be disappointed in the way it went down.

Gruden feels like a dinosaur and representative of a time when Oakland was far more concerned with style than substance.  The desire for the mean-mugging showman on the sideline and the imminent move to Las Vegas are a crossroads for this Oakland team.

They have a legitimate stud in Derek Carr, his performance yesterday was heroic.  It would be a tragedy to watch them waste him.  They’ve put Jared Cook, Amari Cooper, Martavis Bryant, Marshawn Lynch and a fantastic offensive line around him.  They showed, in 2016 that they can win and win big with Carr.  It makes the Gruden hire all the more curious.

Next. Looking back at the Seahawks. dark

One has to wonder what, exactly the Raiders hoped for by bringing back Chucky.

Denver travels to Baltimore next Sunday for the early (11AM MST) game.  The Ravens are 1-1.
