Colorado Rockies Blow Out Phillies
The Colorado Rockies with everything on the line took it to the Phillies last night in a resounding 10-3 victory.
The second game of the four game Rockies-Phillies series went very much like the first. The Colorado Rockies offense seems dialed in and the pitching is on point, the question remains on if it will be enough.
Trevor Story taking time off and Jon Gray being variables has come back around to be a positive for both. We have a nice solid Story back in the rotation and a renewed Gray in the pitching rotation.
While the Rox don’t have a reserved seat for post-season nor are they new to the process. There is surely buzz about this year being special and the expectations that go with it. When the league speaks about some players being the best around people start to wonder if it will get to be played out on the big screen so to speak.
Vince Velasquez started for the Phillies but only survived 3.2 innings against the Blake Street Bombers, however it was still more than the 2.2 that our own Chad Bettis threw for last night. It will take seven relievers to close this Rockies game but like they say, “a win is a win.”
David Dahl gets to add another home run to his stats, it’s refreshing to see some break out offense instead of the same people doing the same things. We also saw doubles from Ian Desmond, Charlie Blackmon, and pinch hitter Carlos Gonzalez. The two out rallies over multiple innings made fans wonder if we shouldn’t start the innings with two out.
Two games remain in this series and three more for the next with the Nationals. Five games remain in the season and three are must wins for post-season play. With the Dodgers and Cardinals both losing, Colorado sits in the second Wild Card spot and just one half game back of Los Angeles for the NL West lead.
The Rockies seem to have this firmly in hand but it sure has been fun to watch. Catch the next game and join the frenzy!
