Stay on top.

That’s it.  It’s that simple.  Stay on top of this team.  Paul Millsap discussed a sit-down he had with Jokic after Millsap returned from his wrist injury.  He told Nikola that the team needed him to lead.  Jokic and the Nuggets responded by winning 8 of their last 11 games.  To increase the difficulty multiplier, Denver made the run without the services of the injured Gary Harris.

In the final five games, with Denver making a playoff push, Nikola averaged 23.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 2 steals.

That is leadership.  That’s a man that was comfortable with the expectations of the team landing on his shoulders.  Those are also all-star numbers and something we should expect him to produce at nearly the same level for an entire season.

At the end of these five pieces, it strikes me that I’m letting my anticipation of Nuggets basketball cloud objectivity but if the surging Colorado Rockies have taught us anything this summer it’s that no dream is too big.
