Mason Plumlee is the perfect fit to compliment Nikola Jokic‘s style.  He leads the second team for the Denver Nuggets to an impossible dream season.

It’s well-known that Indiana is a basketball mecca and Mason Plumlee and his family fit in just fine.  Mason has a brother Miles that plays for the Atlanta Hawks.  You would think that would be a lot of basketball already but there’s another brother that last played for the Milwaukee Bucks and  all three Plumlees won NCAA championships at Duke.  The Plumlee sister, Madeleine, plays volleyball at Notre Dame.

No wonder all the children born to Perky Plumlee, a former Tennessee Tech basketball player, and Leslie (nee Schultz), a former Purdue basketball player have all become world-class athletes.  It was written in the stars when they met at basketball camp in 1979.

Mason Plumlee, however, is the focus for the Nuggets.  He joined the Denver team in 2018 after the trade for Jusuf Nurkic with the Blazers.  While Nurkic and Plumlee may seem similar in their play, Plumlee is a better fit with the style of this Nuggets team.

Plumlee has the size and toughness needed to provide stability to the Nuggets second team.  It isn’t easy to follow Nikola Jokic as he has such a unique style but it actually seems like it allowed Plumlee to expand personally.

The Brooklyn Nets drafted young Plumlee in 2013 as 22nd overall pick.  After having two good, although somewhat mediocre seasons, he moved on to the Portland Trailblazers.  Two more, pretty good seasons and the move to the Nuggets.

I can’t be the only one that thinks Mason Plumlee has found his home here.  He seems to have blossomed since being here and he is definitely part of what’s needed for the Nuggets to achieve their anticipated, “Cinderella season”.
