The struggle has been real for the Denver Nuggets but it looks like they are on-track to be strong in the West with some wrinkles being ironed out.

We picked Jamal Murray‘s shoes as the best on the floor for the Nuggets.

There was a rough patch for sure for the Denver Nuggets squad and that’s not to say there will not be more, but for the time being everything looks like it’s falling into place. As many have observed when the defense is in place all the other vitals fall in.

The defense was present for the stand against the Oklahoma City Thunder and all things indeed fell into place for a sound 105-98 win.

Coach Malone commented:

"They know that when we defend at this level, we can not only beat anybody, but we can win anywhere"

So far that has proven true.  The Nuggets were without a core member with Gary Harris sitting out with a sore achilles.  So the win is even more impressive.

Torrey Craig made the start and defended Russell Westbrook impeccably. Westbrook had his second triple double of the season with 16 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.  That sounds okay until you hear that he shot 6 of 23.  Who knows how it would have been if his shooting wasn’t so off.

Jamal Murray had a great night with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Trey Lyles has continued his upward trend with another solid performance and 16 points of his own.  He was 6 of 6 in the field and 2 of 2 for free throws. Nikola Jokic turned in 16 as well with Juan Hernangomez adding his 15.

There was a scary time in the first quarter when Paul Millsap had to limp from the court but he returned and all seems well.  Losing him for so much of the season last year has probably made this situation more tense.  We are looking forward to the return of Will Barton and the official beginning to Isiah Thomas in December.

The Nuggets will host the L.A. Lakers on Tuesday, November 27.
