The resurgent Denver Nuggets squad is looking to continue the win streak they are on while making a statement against one of the best in the West.
The Denver Nuggets could extend the current win streak to five with a victory over the Portland Trailblazers Friday night. They are coming off a brilliant win over the Lakers and have an opportunity to make a statement about who this Nuggets team is this year.
This game promises to be a battle and the Blazers are coming off their own sweet win where Damian Lillard set a new franchise record by sinking 10 threes. As goes Lillard, so go the Trailblazers. At least that’s how it has been
The Nugs used to be in the same boat, as goes Nikola Jokic, so go the Nuggets. This season is different. While the system for the Denver team is absolutely the Joker way, the team has evolved around it and is able to perform it as the second unit on the floor and when Jokic is not on the floor.
There’s one more difference this year for the Nugs. The defense has flipped from being among the worst to being among the best. Holding 10 teams to under 100 points so far this season is a testament to that.
We are hopeful to see Gary Harris return and would love to see some magic from him. The squad has done fine without him but we don’t want it to go too long. He’s one of the best out there and we miss him. December will hopefully give us back Will Barton and finally let us have a chance to see Isiah Thomas. Exciting things are coming and happening for the Mile-High crew.
This game will allow the Nuggets to finally be seen and taken seriously as a threat, not only in the West but a threat-full stop. Also, a win gets them the top spot in the West.
