Denver Broncos: 3 Reactions to the Win Over the Bengals
Denver has been fortunate, until now.
Watching Chris Harris Jr. unable to put weight on his injured right leg was traumatic. Harris has been a warrior since missing the 2015 conference championship and Super Bowl 50. If there’s one guy on this team that’s ‘Bronco 4 Life’, it’s Harris.
CHJ is also still the best corner in the NFL. There’s lots of debate surrounding that and many would argue but give us Harris any day.
He joins Tramaine Brock Sr., Brandon Marshall, and Zach Kerr on the defensive trainer’s table.
Even worse, the Broncos saw Derek Wolfe go down with a rib injury and Josey Jewell with an ankle. Neither would return.
The bane of any professional sports franchise is injuries. Just one guy getting hurt, if it’s the right guy can derail an entire season. Look at the Nuggets loss of Paul Millsap last season for evidence of the impact a single injury can have. Denver is piling them up and at positions it can ill-afford, like offensive line.
It’s a but that bites all teams but sometimes it takes an extra chunk and the Broncos are going to have to survive the late-season with some key players either out or banged-up. Fortune isn’t cruel, Denver has the Raiders, Niners, Chargers and Browns on the schedule to round out their season. Though the Chargers are competitive in the West and hold a 9-3 record. With the Chiefs in disarray over the Kareem Hunt situation and holding only a one game lead over the Chargers, there’s a chance that Los Angeles will be playing for the division on the final day of the season.
That’s the only contest remaining that Denver may not have the horses (pun!) to win. Any shot at the playoffs is going to most likely require the Broncos to win each of their last four.
Any more key injuries and that proposition may be too much to ask but what a game that sets up to be. Stay tuned, Bronco fans, the last four weeks will be crazy.
