Denver Nuggets vs. Dallas Mavericks: 3 Interesting Storylines
No excuses.
That has been the rallying cry of Michael Malone and his Denver Nuggets. The thing is, everyone says that, few actually walk that walk. We hear “next man up” and we think uh-oh, here’s a team that’s on the verge of an injury-fueled collapse.
Generally, that defiance in the face of overwhelming adversity is admirable. That’s what makes what the Nuggets are doing even that much more special. This isn’t lip service. This is 14 players that have bought into an idea and nobody associated with the Nuggets is willing to back down.
Murray didn’t back down to Westbrook, neither did Jokic. The Nuggets as a team refuse to back down to top-level competition every night. Sure, they have their moments, it wasn’t that long ago they dropped back-to-back games to Charlotte and Atlanta. They overcame it and won the next three against long odds and stiff competition.
So, while it will be exciting to celebrate Dirk and see the latest and greatest in Luka, the thing we really want to celebrate on Tuesday night is this Nuggets team that continues to surprise.
