Ball has come out and said that the starting job isn’t settled yet, but just about everyone else associated with the Broncos has. Translation: it’s probably safe to draft him early in fantasy drafts.

But what are we looking to draft Ball so early? Because he’s quite talented and is going to be operating out of an offense that scores a ton of points. More specifically, he was a touchdown monster at Wisconsin, runs inside very well and has turned into a very reliable blocker and receiver. Those two aspects of his game were enormous flaws as a rookie, but he really evolved into a safe third down option. That makes him a candidate for true feature back duties, which should put him in line to chase down Moreno’s 2013 line of 1,600+ total yards and 10+ total touchdowns.

Considering Ball is the better short yardage runner and has more shake in his run in the open field, he understandably has more upside. He’s locked in as a high-end RB2, but should easily track down RB1 value as the main man in 2014.
