May Rockies fans were saddened by the trade in the offseason, shipping fan favorite Dexter Fowler to the Houston Astros for starter Jordan Lyles and outfielder Brandon Barnes. What a steal of a trade that turned out to be.

Lyles, 23, perhaps just needed a change of scenery as he dazzled in a Colorado Rockies uniform. He is currently 5-1 on the season with an ERA f 3.52 and could have well be on his way to earning the staff ace honors in this article if it wasn’t due to injury.

Lyles suffered a broken hand on his non-throwing hand against the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 4th and has been since transferred to the 60-day DL.

Jordan was a ground ball machine, getting teams to roll over 115 times compared to just 98 fly ball outs. His presence in the rotation has been missed as Colorado has gone with a lot of inexperienced pitchers from the minor leagues.
