Why You Need to Draft Aaron Rodgers

Manning is getting older and is facing a tougher schedule in 2014. He’s also not going to repeat that insane 2013 season. It’s not human and it’s not rational. Rodgers can run and Manning can’t, while A-Rod can match Manning in every other way as a traditional passer. His weapons are about just as good and he’s the superior talent thanks to natural athleticism and youth being on his side.

Rodgers also wasn’t on a bad pace before he went down in week nine. In fact, since he threw just two balls before breaking his collarbone in week nine, he truly only started eight full games in 2013. If we extrapolate those numbers out (he had over 2,500 passing yards and 17 touchdowns in the games he played) he would have a shot at just over 5,000 passing yards and 34 touchdowns through the air. Add in another 222 yards on the ground and an estimated one touchdown (at least) and Rodgers would have put up roughly 364 fantasy points. That still didn’t come close to touching Manning’s ridiculous record-breaking season (409) but it would have been good for second.

In a normal year, Rodgers can contend and top Manning. At full strength with Manning playing back down on earth, Rodgers should take the cake.
