CAN THE DEFENSE STOP TOM BRADY?

In the Denver Broncos 30-24 win over the New England Patriots on November 29th, Tom Brady threw for 280 yards with 3 TD’s and no INT’s: good for a 99.3 QBR. It’s safe to assume that no defense — however good — can fully halt Tom Brady. The same applies on Sunday, so the Broncos defense must find other ways to slow down the New England offense.

The Patriots boast a stable of excellent receivers. From Ron Gronkowski, to Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola, Tom Brady has a variety of playmaking receivers at his disposal. The key for the Denver defense is to consistently apply pressure to Brady, not giving him time to scan the field to find his targets.

While it’s unrealistic to think the Denver Broncos defense — no matter how good they are — to pitch a shutout, they have the ability to give the Patriots offensive line fits and limit Brady’s efficacy throughout the game. The Denver Broncos’ defense will dictate whether the team moves on to the Super Bowl or not.
