Pencil in CarGo at Number Three

For the Colorado Rockies, there are only two real options for the number three spot in the batting order, either Carlos Gonzalez or Nolan Arenado. Carlos Gonzalez and Nolan Arenado were the only duo in the MLB to hit 40 home runs a piece, showing the type of power the duo of hitters possess. Coming off of a 40 home run season, Carlos Gonzalez is a staple in the middle of the lineup for the Colorado Rockies.

Also, with Nolan Arenado’s unimpressive OBP, Carlos Gonzalez presents a more favorable third hitter in the Colorado Rockies’ batting order. When healthy, Carlos Gonzalez is one of the best hitters in the MLB; however, he tends to struggle against left-handed pitchers. Despite his struggles against lefties, CarGo destroys right-handed pitchers, which keeps him at an elite level for outfielders.

If it were not for a slow first-half in 2015, Carlos Gonzalez might have had a 50 home run season and batted over .300. After the All-Star break, Carlos Gonzalez owned a .285/.337/.638 slash line with 27 home runs and 62 RBI. The Colorado Rockies need all the offense they can get, and CarGo provides a big portion of that. Expect to see him at the number three spot in 2016.
