Charlie Blackmon in the Two Spot

While Charlie Blackmon hit primarily atop the Colorado Rockies’ batting order in 2015, he may find more success out of the number two spot heading into 2016. With the ability to get on base at a high clip, while stealing bags, Charlie Blackmon presents a solid option to hit ahead of Carlos Gonzalez and Nolan Arenado.

Over the past two seasons, Charlie Blackmon has redefined himself as an offensively-minded outfielder, with the capability to be relied on to produced impressive numbers. In 2015, Blackmon provided a nice blend of speed and power for the Colorado Rockies, hitting 17 home runs and stealing 43 bags in the process.

Also, Charlie Blackmon possesses a solid eye for the strike zone, and that ability has improved with age. Last season, Blackmon owned a .347 on-base percentage, while hitting atop the Colorado Rockies’ lineup; thus, this bodes well for the heart of the order to have someone consistently getting on base for them to drive in.

Much like Reyes, if Blackmon can get on base, the Colorado Rockies have a duo of players capable of wreaking havoc in the stolen base department. With 71 stolen bases over the past two seasons, Charlie Blackmon propelled himself as a legitimate base-running threat. Also, hitting behind Reyes allow Blackmon to generate more counting stats, and we should see him top a career-high 72 RBI in 2016.
