If you’re a Denver sports fan, Saturday was a pretty great day!

All three of Denver’s active professional sports teams claimed victory on Saturday, pulling off a bit of a late summer hat trick.

Outlaws Extinguish the Atlanta Blaze

Every game in the final quarter of the season is going to be a “must win” for the Denver Outlaws to have a chance at clawing their way into the Major League Lacrosse playoffs.  Trailing by 3 goals at half-time, the Outlaws rallied big time to beat the Atlanta Blaze 18-11.

Rockies Top Braves (Again)

The Colorado Rockies rallied from behind to defeat the Atlanta Braves 4-3 on the road at Turner Field.  This was the second game of a 3-game series.

The Rox blew out the Braves 11-2 on Friday night and the two teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon.

Mark Reynolds, whose game-winner was the 700th RBI of his career, said, “It was a good morale win for us — one of the better wins of the year. We’re not out of this thing yet.”

Rapids Roll Past Sporting KC

The Rapids topped Kansas City 1-0 on a spectacular goal that came from Marlon Hairston in the 78th minute.  It’s worth checking out the Vine.

Saturday’s win extends the Rapids to a franchise record of 14 consecutive games without a loss!

Next Up?

The Rapids will play host to FC Dallas next Saturday, July 23.

The Rockies face-off against the Braves once more to close out the 3-game series this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Outlaws go on the road for their next 2 tests, against Charlotte on July 23 and Rochester on July 28.  Then they return home to close out the regular season against Charlotte on July 30.  The team is fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.
