Every Wednesday and Sunday we collect and recap interesting items from all around the Denver sports universe.

Obviously the biggest news this week was Von Miller signing a monster contract extension with the Denver Broncos, making him a Bronco for Life.

But what other stories caught our attention?

Peyton Manning’s Star-Studded Retirement Party

Peyton Manning’s wife threw him a retirement party this week in Los Angeles.

No, it wasn’t a big chicken parm sandwich at the Papa John’s. Despite his carefully crafted public persona, the Sheriff apparently knows how to live it up in style.

Avalanche Re-sign Duncan Siemens

The one-year deal to lock-up the 2011 first-round selection means that Siemens is expected to earn $874,000 if he makes it to the NHL and $70,000 if he remains primarily in the AHL.

According to BSN Denver: “Siemens  is expected to come to Avalanche training camp this upcoming season and compete for a job in the NHL right away.”

Broncos Say Gotsis Will Be Ready for Camp

Rookie defensive lineman Adam Gotsis is getting healthy and the team says he’s on track to hit the field during training camp.

“I feel like, come training camp, it might be a couple days before they throw me in there with full-contact type stuff,” Gotsis said, “but I’m feeling really good. I’m feeling real confident and ready to get back out there with the team.”

Avalanche Add Nolan Pratt to Coaching Staff

The Avalanche have hired Nolan Pratt as an assistant coach.  Hespent the past five seasons as an assistant coach in the American Hockey League, coaching the Lake Erie Monsters in 2015-16 after four years with the Springfield Falcons (2011-15).

More from The Roundup

Pratt was a member of the Avalanche’s 2001 Stanley Cup championship team, and also won a Cup as a member of the Lightning in 2003-04.

What Could Von Buy?

BSN Denver amusingly notes that Von Miller’s new contract would give him enough scratch to finally get his eye-sight corrected.  In fact, the deal is big enough that he could afford approximately 58,000 rounds of Lasik eye surgery.

ICYMI: Jenny Simpson Heads to Rio

Former Colorado Buffalo Jenny Simpson is making yet another trip to the Olympics as part of Team USA. Will her third time be the charm?
