It was a good weekend in Colorado sports as the Rapids picked up another win and the Denver Outlaws, despite being on a bye-week, secured their spot in the MLL playoffs.

Colorado Rapids Top Vancouver Whitecaps

The Colorado Rapids returned to their winning ways, defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 in front of a home crowd of 17,526 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night.  The Rapids improve to an 11-3-8 record, and remain rated as a 99% lock to make the MLS playoffs.

Denver Outlaws Make MLL Postseason

The Denver Outlaws (8-6) have secured a No. 3 seed in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse postseason and will face the No. 2 seeded New York Lizards (8-6) on Saturday, Aug. 13 at a neutral location.

After beginning the season 2-6, the Denver Outlaws won six straight games to finish their season with an 8-6 record. It was the longest win streak for the Outlaws since Denver won all 14 games during the perfect 2013 regular season.

Broncos Sign OL Mathu Gibson

Looking for more depth on the offensive line after a wave of injuries in recent days, the Broncos on Friday signed rookie Mathu Gibson, a product of Division II Wingate University in North Carolina.

To make room for Gibson, the Broncos designated offensive lineman Sam Brenner as waived/injured.
