Derek Wolfe gets nationally recognized as a top 3 defensive linemen after monster season.

The defense starts upfront and the Broncos have a great player in Derek Wolfe. In year two of being in Wade Phillips scheme, Wolfe goes past being great and gets the recognition of being a top 3 defensive linemen and a dual threat as a 5-tech 3-4 defensive end.

In the run game, teams average under 2 yards per carry when rushing towards Wolfe. He is a great run defender and takes the next step individually, which helps the defense. Wolfe dominates and forces teams to give up on the run.

As for being a pass rusher, Derek Wolfe puts up career numbers. Not only does he lead the NFL with pressures from a 3-4 defensive end, including J.J. Watt, he sets a career high in sacks with 17, which matches his career total up to this point.

With the talent he has around him, Wolfe really steps into the light. He makes a statement saying “Here I am, I am great as an individual and part of a great defense”. With how great he his, Wolfe’s gets a lot of mentions for being the defensive player of the year.
