Rank No. 8

Colorado Avalanche

Last Week: N/A

The Avs find themselves in the eighth spot in our rankings despite earning a 2-1 OT win over Carolina on the road this week. The win marked the teams only success during a five game east coast road trip that included stops in New York, New Jersey, Carolina and Buffalo. Colorado were outscored 14-5 through the first four games before their overtime win against Carolina. In their return to the Pepsi Center Sunday night, Colorado weren’t able to string multiple victories together, going down to the Lightning 3-2 in OT to drop to 3-7 in February.

Rank No. 7

Colorado Buffaloes Women’s Basketball

Last Week: N/A

After a rough January that saw the CU go 2-7, the Buffs have somewhat turned it around in recent times, posting a 3-3 record since the start of February. Colorado split their two games this week, first going down to Oregon State 54-49 before recording a wire-to-wire victory over Oregon on Sunday. The Buffs exploded out of the gate to lead 25-8 at quarter time and never looked back, eventually coming away with the 76-66 victory. Haley Smith led the way for Colorado, scoring a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds. Next up for the Buffs; a road trip to face the number 9 ranked Washington Huskies.

Rank No. 6

Colorado Mammoth

Last Week: N/A

The Mammoth are standing at an even 4-4 through the first eight games of the 2017 NLL season after most recently suffering a loss to Saskatchewan on the road. Colorado were held to just 7 goals in what was the lowest scoring game of the season so far. The Rush managed just 8 goals themselves thanks to the stellar play of Mammoth goalie Dillon Ward, who recorded 56 saves in the game. The loss ends Colorado’s two game winning streak and drops the team back down to .500 going into their week 9 matchup against New England.

Rank No. 5

Denver Nuggets

Last Week: N/A

The Nuggets manage to hold onto the number 5 spot in our rankings thanks to their triumphant 132-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors at the Pepsi Center last Monday. Denver tied the NBA record for the most three pointers made in a single game with 24 in what was a game for the ages. However, in their last game before the All-Star break, the Nuggets suffered a terrible 112-99 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves at home. If Denver want to remain in the Western Conference’s eighth seed, they can’t afford to drop winnable games like that.
