The Colorado Rapids travel to StubHub Center in Los Angeles, California to play the L.A. Galaxy for the second time in three games.

The first game I erroneously gave the Colorado Rapids a poor chance of pulling out a win and even went as far as saying it was most likely an affair that could be skipped.  I was as wrong as it gets.  Learning from my mistakes I’m going to call this one a can’t miss sporting event though this go around it will have to be enjoyed from the couch for most of us who reside in Colorado.

The first Colorado Rapids versus L.A. Galaxy game was played in the Mile High City of Denver where the Rapids pulled out a win on a late game goal by Sam Nicholson.  The Rapids won the game 2-1 for a much needed win.

The Galaxy went into the last game against the Rapids on a 7 game undefeated streak and the Rapids were in a winning drought.  This game both teams will have a different perspective. The Rapids will be coming into this game on a two game winning streak and look to extend that to three in this game.  The Galaxy not only lost the game to the Rapids but ended up with a draw in a late match collapse against Minnesota on August 11, 2018.  This match will be almost a role reversal.

Statistically the L.A. Galaxy are still the favored winners on paper but this is by no means an impossible match to win for the Colorado Rapids.  The Galaxy have dropped a third of their games at home so far this season and have ended two with a draw.  From this stand point the Rapids should end with at least another point.

More from Colorado Rapids

The concern for the Rapids should be their own record on the road.  The Colorado Rapids have only won a single game of the 10 they have played away from Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.  The Rapids have come away with a draw in two of their road matches and have lost seven.  This Colorado Rapids team hasn’t been a good road team.

Injury could play in the Rapids favor in this game as there is potential that the Galaxy could be down some key players.  Both Romain Alessandrini and Giovani dos Santos were pulled from the Galaxy’s match against Minnesota.  Neither player is listed on the MLSsoccer.com Injury Report as of writing this, but these may be injuries to watch if they play or not.  Both players are in the Galaxy’s top five in scoring this season.

The Colorado Rapids certainly have a shot at winning this match. If the Rapids continue playing like they have as of recent it will be a great match to watch.  The Rapids need to keep attacking the goal and play defense at a high level.  If they do these two things well in this match then they have a shot to extend their winning streak to three.
